Raising a family is a wonderful and inspiring experience. However, it can feel overwhelming at times. Whether you have a newborn baby or older children, the parenting journey can bring with it a whole host of challenges. Fortunately, there are lots of resources that can help make those challenges more manageable, allowing you to enjoy watching your little ones grow.

Here are a few parenting apps that offer guidance and handy ways to track your child’s progress, look after your own wellbeing, and support the development of a happy, healthy family.

1. Baby Blues App

Mental health support for new mothers

This new app will be available on iOS soon. Baby Blues provides new mothers with weekly sessions that offer emotional support, combatting perinatal depression and anxiety.

Sign up to the Baby Blues mailing list for the latest news and the app’s release date, or follow them on Instagram: @babybluesapp.

2. Thumsters

Children’s behaviour and goal tracking

The Thumsters app allows parents to set goals and encourage their kids in behaviours that align with their family values.

It uses positive reinforcement to build children’s self-esteem and confidence, presenting them with a ‘thumbs up’ when they’ve reached a goal.

The app’s free to download on Android and iOS, or £1.99 per month for a premium subscription.

You can follow @thumstersparentingapp on Instagram for more details and the latest updates.

3. Sound Sleeper

Relaxing sounds to calm your baby

From the patter of rain to the white noise rumble of a hairdryer, the Sound Sleeper App provides a range of soothing sounds to help your baby drift to sleep.

You can also use the app track and monitor your baby’s sleep patterns, and the sounds work well for helping you focus, too!

Sound Sleeper is free to download, with in-app purchases and upgrades available.

Follow their Instagram account, @soundsleeperapp, for advice on self-care and sleep hygiene, and download the app here.

4. Baby Feed Timer

Breast and bottle-feeding tracker

Baby Feed Timer is a convenient way to track your baby’s feeding, alongside nappy changes and growth metrics. Whether you’re breastfeeding or using a bottle, you can log how long your baby feeds for and how much they consume. You can also set up reminders for the next feed.

Baby feed Timer has been recommended by NHS midwives and health visitors across the UK. A 7-day free trial is available on iOS and Android.
